Rosehip oil is loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids, so it’s a common ingredient in store-bought anti-aging creams. If you have rosehip oil on hand, use it to make your own moisturizing face cream.

Step #1

Put a double boiler on a stove burner set to medium-high heat. In case one don’t have a double boiler, fill up a small pot about midway with water. Set a heat-safe bowl on top of the saucepan. Use a bowl that is slightly larger than the pot– it must sit above the water, it must not touch the water directly.

Step #2

Include 2 tablespoons jojoba oil, 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil, 1 tablespoon evening primrose oil as well as 1 tablespoon rosehip oil to the bowl or the top part of the double boiler the moment the water starts to boil.

Step #3

Blend in 1 tablespoon finely grated beeswax. Stir continuously as the oils and beeswax melt. One can easily buy beeswax at a craft store or hobby-supply shop. A few health food shops might also carry it.

Step #4

Include 1/4 teaspoon borax to a heat-safe bowl. Mix in 1 1/4 ounce rosewater or distilled water. Heat the mixture in the microwave oven for one minute, or until it’s about as warm as the oil blend. Remove from the microwave oven and mix with a spoon.

Step #5

Remove the oil mixture from the heat. Carefully pour the borax solution into the oil mixture. As you pour, stir quickly. The mixture will develop a creamed consistency.

Step #6

Remove the mixture from the heat and allow it cool down up until it’s lukewarm to the touch. Mix in six drops of sandalwood essential oil. Add 2 drops each of patchouli, carrot seed and geranium essential oil. Mix very well. The sandalwood, geranium and patchouli oils give the cream aroma. In case you do not like these aromas, leave them out.

Step #7

Scoop the mixture into a clean glass container as soon as it has cooled down completely. Seal and store in a cool, dark place. The cream will remain fresh for a minimum of 2 weeks.

How to use your brand new Rosehip Cream

In order to make use of your cream, smooth a little dab of it over your face using circular movements. Do not rinse.

To soften skin all over, add a number of drops of rosehip oil to your warm bath. One may similarly make use of pure rosehip oil instead of your regular moisturizer.

Other essential oils to make use of in this particular recipe consist of lavender, ylang-ylang and palmarosa.

Warnings

Rosehip oil might trigger an allergic reaction if one possess delicate skin. Test the oil by applying a drop or two to a tiny area on your arm. If you develop a rash, itching or other irritation, stop using the oil.
