Can Rosehip Seed Oil REALLY reduce scars

Laboratory Case Study performed in 2015 in Spain

In 2015 a study was performed in Dermatology Service of University Hospital of Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín (Spain) on 108 patients who underwent open skin surgical procedures for skin tumor removal of pigmented lesions. Evaluation was taken at 6 and 12 weeks intervals whilst applying rosehip seed oil on 76 patients who had these operations, with a control group of 32 patients who under went the same operations but who did not use rosehip seed oil. The 76 patients had to apply the pure rosehip oil to the scared area after the sutures were removed twice a day for a 12 week period. In the 76 patients who used rosehip seed oil there was a decrease in erythema (redness of the skin) around the scar tissue, and this was observed at 6 weeks and the 12 week interval , there was also a decrease in discoloration and atrophy of the scar tissue. These studies indicates that rosehip oil is useful for the cosmetic improvement of erythema, discoloration and atrophy of post surgical skin scars. It is important to note that no adverse effects were found in any patient whilst using the rosehip seed oil. So they have it proof that rosehip seed oil can actually helpby reducing visibility of scar tissue on your skin. Important to note that the tests were done with pure rosehip seed oil, there were no additives or preservatives added to the test product.

More laboratory tests on scarring

A test carried out in the chemistry lab of the Universidad de Concepción in Chile showed that continued use of organic pure rose hip oil applied to the scars tissue reduced the appearance of scars and minimized the redness in the damaged area after surgery or other injuries.
