Make soap yourself – step 1

Grease a sufficient number of soap molds with a little sunflower oil – about 12 pieces of soap can be produced from the stated quantity. Pour the water into the upper part of the simmer pot or vegetable steamer and bring to a simmer. If you do not have such a pot available, you can use two different sized pots, the smaller one being placed in the larger one. Add the ground rose hips and soap shavings in spoons and stir gently with the water.

It often takes an hour or more for the soap filings to melt completely, with constant stirring being necessary during this process. Either you wait until the soap has completely melted with repeated stirring, or you only stir the mixture for five minutes until you get a sticky mass and the soap filings begin to melt, then fill this mass into a blender and mix until the mass is complete has a very soft consistency. A little water may need to be added.

Once the soap has melted completely, add the beeswax and shea butter and stir until everything has melted. If you have used the blender for the soap-water mixture, pour this mixture back into the pot and stir gently so that as much air as possible can escape. Only then add the beeswax and shea butter.

Now take the whole thing off the stove and carefully stir in the rose petals. Finally, add the essential oils and stir again carefully.

Make soap yourself – step 5

Pour the soap into the prepared greased molds and cover with a plastic wrap. Remove the film after 24 hours and place the molds in a warm, dry place for another 24 hours. Then remove the soaps from the molds and place on wax paper.

Make soap yourself – step 6

If you have only used one large soap mold, cut the soap block on all sides after a week and then cut the block into individual soap bars with a knife. Now check at intervals of about ten days whether the soap bars also dry out well and solidify and turn them over and over again. Always cut off uneven or discolored edge pieces. The soaps are usually ready after about three weeks.

We hope you enjoy making soap yourself.
