Rosehips were used by ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans because of its wonderful healing Benefits.Rosehip oil was made into syrup and used sparingly in Britain during wartime to prevent infections among the children. The syrup was made from the empty seed cases and also helped providealleviation from looseness of the bowels, stomach and menstrual spasms, queasiness and heartburn. Rose hip oil is not on the essential oil list, yet it is just as beneficial if not more than essential oils!
If you have normal, dry or sensitive skin rosehip will be ideal for you as it will not burn or irritate the skin because it is light weight and hydrating. Other facial oils tend to cause breakouts, or they contain fragrances which is not ideal for use on the face.
Rose hip seed oil is a pressed oil extracted from the seeds of a wild rose bush. You can apply it directly to the skin or mix it with a moisturiser, toner, serum or spray. There is no oily residue left on the skin once it has been applied as it is a dry oil.
Rose hip oil is very high in Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Omega 6 fatty acids. It reduces hyperpigmentation, scarring, hasanti-aging properties, treats fine lines and wrinkles and is great for sun burns, dry skin as well as eczema.
Face, Skin and Hair
Rose hip oil can be used as a makeup remover, because it is an oil it will also remove the highest coverage and long lasting makeup as well, unlike other make up removers Rose Hip Oil is extremely gentle as it is natural and will not harm or irritate the skin.
Some beauty gurus even add a few drops of Rose Hip Oil to their matt foundation for a dewy glowing look.
This oil can also be used on your hair for example if you have split ends you can rub a few drops onto the split ends to repair and add shine to your hair.
If you have dry cuticles or have just done a manicure or pedicure it is always best to moisturise directly after, just add a few drops of Rose Hip Oil over all of your cuticles to repair and rejuvenate them.
Rose Hip Oil and raw sugar mixed together can exfoliate and moisten dry cracked lips. To make this moisturising lip scrub all you need to do is take a couple tea spoons of raw sugar and a few drops of Rose hip oil mix it up and gently rub it on your lips until satisfied and wipe off. Added benefit to exfoliating you lips will make them appear more plump and beautiful.
If you are looking for more radiant beautiful skin simply cleanse your face as normal, then add a few drops of Rose hip oil into the palm of your hand and rub together and apply it all over your face before you go to bed. It will reduce the redness, makes your skin healthier helps with fine lines and wrinkles as well. You will wake up feeling fresh, moisturised and rejuvenated.
Pre-Shave
Rose hip oil can be used as a pre-shave treatment which prevents the damage caused by shaving. Just pop a couple drops on the area you are going to shave, this will also soften the hair which makes the shaving process a lot less harsh and once you have shaved the Rose hip oil will have already sunk into the skin making it so much softer.
Using Rose Hip Oil as a hair mask, just before you wash your hair apply the oil onto the ends of your hair and let it sit for 30 min or overnight, the longer the better, you can then wash your hair as per normal which will leave your hair feeling soft and silky.
